This is about as poor as it gets through, zooming in towards 50mm improves the corner performance, though (to some degree) at the expense of central performance. If you're considering this mostly plastic lens, go for it. The zoom ring has the usual amount of drag. One always needs to move the AF switch to MF for manual focus. With first sample the weakest point is 50mm f2.8, but sharpness is still good at this setting.
